How is Asbestos Removed?
Asbestos removal is a highly specialized element of site clearance, and should only be undertaken by an organisation with the competency, experience and qualifications to do so.
Prior to Asbestos removal works, a robust method statement and risk assessment should be created by a competent person, which should detail the methodology used to reduce the spread and exposure of Asbestos to the lowest level reasonably practicable. Common techniques (control measures) to stop the spread and exposure are to keep the Asbestos materials damp/wet so the fibres cannot become airborne, use of containment (enclosure), exhaust ventilation (Negative Pressure Units and H Type Vacuum Cleaners) and Personal and Respiratory Protective Equipment (PPE and RPE).
